John began his career in accounting in 1968 after completing an undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University and obtaining his Chartered Accountant degree in 1972.
Except for the five years he worked at a national firm, his professional career has been spent with medium-sized firms located in Vancouver. He was a partner of Ellis Foster for 30 years.
In 1999, John was recognized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC (ICABC) as "CA of the Year" for his community service. He was also elected as a Fellow of the ICABC in 2004 in recognition of the service and honour he has brought to the accounting profession. John has supported ICABC throughout his career and currently serves on Council, as chair of the Audit Committee, and as Council liaison to the Practice Review and Licensing Committee.
Giving back to the community has always been important to John and he has served on many charitable and community associations. At present John serves as a board member and treasurer of Special Olympics British Columbia.
His years in practice has allowed him to focus on the assurance, tax and business advisory needs of individuals, families, owner-managed businesses and not-for profit organizations. Fishing, golf, sporting events and retreats to his island property with his wife Barbara recharge his ability and desire to provide quality service to his many valued clients and any that seek his assistance.
John also has three wonderful adult children, who along with a granddaughter, keep him busy in his spare time.
