Michael's depth of skills in assurance, accounting, tax and advisory services are applied to both Canadian public and private companies, especially organizations involved with real estate, investments and international operations. Michael is well-versed with the international scene. His background includes working as a financial accountant for a large UK public company with international operations.
Michael also works extensively and effectively with professionals such as doctors, lawyers and dentists. He knows first-hand the challenges of starting up a business in the professional services industry.
After being a student with Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst & Young), Michael qualified as a Chartered Accountant at an unusually young age in the UK. He came to Vancouver on contract with Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) and in 1985 formed his own, successful accounting firm, Bedford Curry & Co. His firm merged with Manning Elliott in 2006.
Michael's quick humour and enjoyment of client contact is in contrast to his role as chair of the Discipline Tribunal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. In his leisure time, he enjoys running, golf and international travel with his wife, Sally.
