Mike is Manning Elliott's managing partner. He also provides accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services to owner-managed private businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Using his strong communication skills, Mike enjoys making complex financial statements understandable for his clients and then taking a hands-on approach to solving their accounting and tax challenges.
A graduate of the University of British Columbia, Mike has a Bachelor's degree in Science and a Master's degree in Business Administration. He received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1977, along with the honour of winning the Gold Medal for British Columbia and finishing fourth in Canada out of 2,800 candidates writing the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' Uniform Final Exam. Mike joined Manning Elliott in 1980 after working for an international CA firm for five years.
Mike is an experienced adult educator and instructor. He regularly presents seminars of interest to management and board members of not-for-profit organizations. Mike also spent several years as an instructor in Accounting and Computerized Information Systems with the Diploma Division of the Faculty of Commerce at UBC.
Aside from his professional career, Mike spent more than eighteen years as a coach, manager or board member with the Dunbar Soccer Association, Dunbar Little League, Vancouver Thunderbird Minor Hockey Association and the Vancouver West Side Minor Softball Association. He is a past-president of Vancouver Executives Association and has been active on various committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
Mike's favourite leisure activities include bicycling, gardening, travelling, being a sports fan and spending time with family and friends.
