Steve is in charge of our Tax Department. His 28 years of experience in taxation enables him to advise clients in all aspects of personal, corporate and commodity tax matters.
Steve provides a broad range of tax services including corporate, personal and estate tax planning. He assists clients with provincial taxation issues and advises them on the tax effects of constantly changing tax legislation. He supports clients in disputes with, and representations to, Canada Revenue Agency. Steve also has extensive experience in valuation engagements for clients in the professional services, retail, manufacturing and distribution sectors.
A native to North Vancouver, Steve graduated from Simon Fraser University in 1980 and went on to receive his Chartered Accountant designation in 1981. He joined Manning Elliott in 1989 after working as a Tax Manager for Deloitte & Touche.
Steve is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and former member of the Taxation Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (ICABC). He has been an instructor at the In-Depth Tax Course of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and has lectured extensively for the ICABC, community groups and other organizations.
Steve sits as treasurer on the board of directors of the Canadian Soccer Association. He also plays for the Surrey United Over-35's soccer team which won the 2001, 2002 and 2004 provincial championships, as well as the 2004 Western Canadian regional championships.
