Students

Manning Elliott provides a well-rounded education for its CA articling students. The varied experience the firm provides to its students helps them decide on their areas of future specialty and provides a strong foundation from which to prepare for the Uniform Final Exam (UFE). In addition, our open door policy allows students to have access to the expertise and guidance of partners and senior staff members and be assigned work directly from them.

In our learning environment, we encourage an atmosphere of camaraderie between our students. Manning Elliott has many social events throughout the year for students to participate in and enjoy. Students are also an important part of our Social Committee and Community Outreach Committee. In fact, we invite our students to take part in our philanthropic culture through a Day of Giving during their first week of work.

It's customary for our students to be collectively supportive and help each other through the modules. We also have a formal buddy system where second year students are committed to helping our first year students "through the ropes."

Plus, we have an extensive UFE prep program. Recent CA graduates mentor those preparing for the exam. Senior professional staff members, some of whom are CASB facilitators and case reviewers, oversee the UFE prep program and are available for consultation and support. A comprehensive UFE prep course is provided. We also offer lunch and learn sessions on specific subjects for our students that promote knowledge acquisition and professional growth.

Manning Elliott provides financial support to its students. All CASB and UFE course fees are paid for on a "forgivable loan" basis. Our students also benefit from the generous study time and course support that we provide. Three days’ paid study time is allowed for each of the six modules and we give our students substantial time off to study for the UFE. Students are also able to participate in our four-day work week during July and August.

To help our students get started, Manning Elliott provides a comprehensive orientation to the firm and the work they will be performing. As a new student, you will be provided with an overall exposure to the firm through a guided tour, an orientation manual, education on company standards and expectations, IT training, audit training and file simulations.
