Accounts Receivable Clerk

Purpose of Role:
  • The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations.

Reports to:
  • This position works closely with the entire partnership, billing support team and reports to the Manager of Internal Accounting.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes:
  • An understanding of full cycle accounting is required

  • Accounts receivable experience, minimum 2-3 years 

  • Highly confidential and professional

  • Excellent client service skills

  • Advanced experience with MS Office Suite and familiarity with Sage 

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Self directed

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

  • Knowledge pf CCH Practice Management (in-house software) considered an asset

  • Post secondary education in accounting or related field considered an asset

Responsibilities: 
  • Process client payments & prepare bank deposits on a daily basis

  • Review A/R Statements monthly to ensure there are no discrepancies

  • Analyze A/R & process adjustments as required

  • Investigate & resolve A/R queries from clients, partners & senior team members 

  • Makes recommendations to management regarding third party collection

  • Establish delinquent accounts and prepare payment plans 

  • Work with collection agency/lawyer on difficult accounts 

  • Preparing final demands and writing off bad debt as necessary

  • Occasionally creating and issuing invoices to customers; processing credit memos

  • Assisting the accounting department with the preparation of financial reports

  • Actively supports and participates in firm wide initiatives

  • Participates in the firm’s Team Development  Program

  • Promotes the firm’s Quality Control Standards
